Preparing for Your First Class

You’re on board. Now what?

New to Fit Barre? Here’s what you need to know in advance.

1. What to wear

Leggings and a tank are a popular choice for women. Steer clear of loose-fitting shorts and you’ll be good to go. (We don’t want you to suffer from a wardrobe malfunction if you’re on your back with your legs in the air. You’ve been warned.)

We suggest everyone wear sticky socks. They retain your body’s heat and prevent your feet from sliding. (You’ll thank us later.)

If you don’t own a pair of sticky socks yet, we’ve got several types ranging from $15-22 plus tax. (They’re fancy. You should check them out.)

2. What to bring

A positive attitude and a sense of humour are all you need. We’ve got the must-have equipment at the studio.

Other than that, you might want to bring a bottle of water and possibly a towel. Our barre classes are a killer workout but they’re nowhere near a feverish sweat-session. We sanitize all equipment after each class but some people are more comfortable bringing their own towel. You do you.

3. What not to bring

Please don’t bring your phone into the studio space. Two reasons.

  1. You’ll enjoy a more focused workout.

  2. It shows respect to everyone in the class.

If you’re expecting an important call, you’re welcome to leave your phone at the front desk. We’ll come snag you if you’re needed.

You might want to leave your valuables at home too. Theft hasn’t been an issue at the studio but we’re not responsible for stolen goods. Better to play it safe.

4. When to arrive

Try to arrive 10-15 minutes before your first class. This gives you time to settle in a bit before getting started. That quiet period before class is a perfect time to introduce yourself to the instructor.

It’s a busy place but we try to learn names. Plus, if you have any questions or concerns, our instructors will happily walk you through any modifications before class starts. We want you feeling as confident as possible.
